My name is Sarah, and I am a 2nd year medical student with a passion for oncology! I am interning with Memorial Sloan Kettering and researching how the COVID19 pandemic has affected breast cancer care for Black women in New York. It would be tremendously helpful if you were willing to spread the word about my survey: https://redcap.link/nrbd79uz and best of all the survey takes only 5 minutes!
Responses have been low, and they continue to be, I may have to broaden the scope to the entire US.. But New York was hit especially hard by COVID, and focusing on Black women here is so important in determining the impact on the most vulnerable patient group.
Lastly, the context of this project is SO important. Black women with breast face higher rates of mortality than their White counterparts-- in fact Black women are 7x more likely to die. So much of this survival gap is due to barriers to care: transportation, insurance, SES, less genetic testing, etc. As a Black woman, myself, this is not only devasting but hugely personal.
Please consider posting the survey, and/or graphic attached to this email. I am available for any questions you may have and have a wonderful day! If you choose to help, I really, really appreciate it
